Broadway Cares Splash Solo Strips/ Reed recap
ok I suck at recaps, but here it goes........... The event took place at Splash which from what I gather is a very popular gay night club in NYC. The night club was 2 floors and had a nice stage for the dancers to perform on with good lighting and sound system. There was a little side stage too with a stripper pole:) All the bartenders wore ONLY briefs!! When I first got there, well I was VERY NERVOUS but immediately the bartender put me at total ease and a few gay guys sorts started looking after me haha! There were a few other women/girls there and eventually I met a few gals who were there that I knew who they were. Going to the bath room was a expierence as it was co-ed! Hee!! First time for me to expierence that! When I went in to go to the bathroom, a guy grabbed my hand and said come on sweetie lets find you a private stall. ha!! I tell you everyone was so nice and fun! We all had a blast! Now on to Mr. Reed Kelly the star attraction, he arrived in the bar after I did and I saw him trying to take a pic of the Broadway Bares poster on a screen so I walked toward him and he was surprised and right away said: Sam your here!!! Thank you so much for coming and supporting me and this cause. He said a few other things about how nice that I came etc. He gave me a big hug! Then Reed said: Sam, now I want you to know though this is adult entertainment tonight ok, so you know what to expect. I said I know Reed. He said ok, just wanted you to know. I think it was very sweet of him to make sure I knew what I was going to see. We then took some pics and chatted for awhile before he left to go get dressed. Now the show was definitely adult entertainment. It was geared for it's audience and all the dancers were great and fun and it was all for a good cause. The MC was Marty Thomas who opened doing a better job than Adam Lambert on his For Your Entertaiment song! He would introduce each dancer and they would come out and do their strip to different songs. All had a routine, played a character. Some danced alone, one group of 3 together and Reed danced with one other guy. Reeds song was Naughty or Nice. Reed was excellent and so in character, even his facial expressions were great! (Yes, I looked at his face*g*) I thought he by far was the best "dancer" in the group and he worked hard all night trying to get tips to make as much money for this cause which is very dear to him he said!! After all the dancers did their routines, then they would rotate dancing on the top of the bars and on the stripper pole and everyone would then tip them:) Reed was sweating like crazy and working hard..... and giving a good show to all. All the dancers were. The crowd was loving them and a lot of money was raised for BC/EFA. The announcer said several times: Ladies and gentlemen Mr. Reed Kelly his abs are the 8th Wonder of the World! The MC gave Reed a lot of attention as did the whole crowd. He really worked it!! and the MAN can move and shake those hips. There were 2 shows, the 2nd one was a lot more crowded than the first one. After the show, I had taken the poster off the wall from Broadway Bears which is the pic Reed uses as his profile at myspace...so I went over to Reed and he asked him to sign it. He signed it and wrote something very nice on it for me. He is very sweet. W then talked for quite some time about the nights event, raising money and he said how grateful he was for all the support he has received and very grateful for all the support I give him. He said he is trying hard to raise as much money this year for this event than he can. We then talked about his tour and Mylene Farmer and her fans and things like that. He is a very caring sweet man and he worked very hard last night trying to raise money for a worthy cause that means a lot to him. Obviously, it would not be every ones cup of tea his performance last night, but the performance was for the clientele of the patrons in SPLASH and the Broadway community in tradition with what Broadway bares does yearly. Last year they raised 800,000 and their goal this year is 1 million. Reed will also be appearing in both shows on 6-20 for Broadway Bares. I was happy to be there and support him. I did take loads of pics, here are a couple and of Reed and ME!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I am totally exhausted, I do have more GOODIES but it is gonna have to wait till tomorrow! |

Thanks Toni!!! That was really big of you to make the sacrifice just so we poor shut-ins could envision a land and circumstances far far away... le sigh. OK I understand you are tired but if you think you're getting off this lightly.... think again!! I have logistical questions so I hope you'll be up for them tomorrow!!!!
